Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in Wellington, Manitoba. She grew up there. She made her acting debut as Flora McGrath in The romantic-drama film Piano. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role, she won an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of eleven. She was the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. The actress was chosen to play Flora McGrath the daughter of a muffled Scottish pianist who, in the late 19th century relocates into New Zealand for an arranged wedding after she accepted an audition for open casting; she was nine years old, and had no previous experience as an actor. In her teens her family relocated into the United States. Paquin was the main character in Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part in the film as Jane Eyre in the film when she was only a child. Paquin played Frankie Addams from a television film adaptation of Carson McCullers's novels The Member of the Wedding (1997). She had a supporting role as Princess of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. She played teenage girls in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed her Polexia Aphrodisa groupie as part of Almost Famous (2000).
